Sanur is one of Bali's older resort areas, and caters primarily to middle-aged and older travellers, as well as families with children. The town is easy to get around by foot, and a paved beachfront path runs the length of the waterfront.

The Mangrove Information Centre is set in a massive 600 hectare mangrove forest and provides an enjoyable day out for both adults and children looking to spend some time away from the beach. The centre has programmes which educate visitors about the importance of mangrove forests, as well as two huge boardwalks for strolling through the area.
The Pura Blanjong Temple is Bali's oldest temple. An inscription on the Prasati Blanjong - a stone pillar inside the temple - tells of the formation of what was probably Bali's first formal government.
For shoppers, the Sindhu Market and Art Market provide an opportunity to peruse an extensive maze of stalls offering Balinese handcrafts, including sarongs.
International Kite Festival
Every year in July Padang Galek Beach, which is located just north of Sanur, plays host to the International Kite Festival. Teams from the surrounding villages take part, flying traditional Balinese styled kites, some of which are over ten metres in length. Historically, these kites were flown as a way to send messages to the Hindu gods, asking them to bless the crops and provide abundance during harvest time.

While most Sanur accommodation is tailored to the middle to high-end market, there is a selection of cheap hotels in Sanur for travellers on a tighter budget. Mid-range offerings include traditional hotels as well as apartments and studios with kitchens for self-catering guests; most apartments rent by the week. There is also a good selection of high-end luxury hotels on the water, many which include onsite restaurants, bars, and spa facilities.
