Two of the best ways to see Phoenix are by horseback and by hot air balloon. On a horse, you can get the lay of the land up close - whether you want to trek into the desert or trudge up mountains. During a hot air balloon ride, you can see a little bit of everything as you float through the sky.

The Desert Botanical Garden showcases the Sonoran Desert plant life. There are many ethnobotany examples that show how plants survive in a desert environment.

If you want to get your exercise, head to Piestewa Peak for a hike. It's part of the Phoenix Mountains Preserve, so it's on top of its own mountain. But once you hike the 1,200 feet to the top, you will get an amazing view of all the other nearby mountains.

Thousands of years back, symbols were scratched onto rocks that have now been preserved within a museum setting in northern Phoenix. These petroglyphs were done by hunter-gatherers. Archaeologists call them Archaic. Dating petroglyphs can be tricky, but a few of the drawings could possibly be from 5000 years back. The Hohokam followed the Archaic. The Patayan also followed after the Archaic and lived west and north of the Hohokam.

If you want to have some fun away from Phoenix, head to Paradise City. As a small, affluent Phoenix suburb, Paradise City offers just that - paradise. The area is home to plenty of resorts and spas, so you can indulge in deep massages, fancy baths, and even buy custom skin care products.
