Thailand Guide

Thailand is a diverse, warm and welcoming country with many fascinating attractions to offer visitors. Whether the focus of a trip is to explore the nation’s cultural and historical sites, experience the unique city life, or relax on the splendid beaches, there are hotels and other accommodation options available throughout the country that will meet most needs and budgets.

Top Things about Thailand

For many visitors to Thailand, the main attraction is the beaches and resorts found in the southern part of the country. Resorts in areas such as Phuket, Samui, and Pattaya draw large numbers of travellers each year because of the beauty of the local scenery, the weather, and the vibrant nightlife. This is only one part of Thailand, however, and other significant attractions are to be found further inland, such as in the cultural centre of Chiang Mai, which is also a gateway to some of the wilder parts of the Thai countryside. Bangkok is the capital and largest city in the country, and offers travellers an amazing mix of historical and cultural attractions, modern entertainment, and amazing nightlife options.

Best Cities to Visit

The first stop for many visitors to Thailand is Bangkok, with its large international airport acting as the departure point for many destinations located around the country. Bangkok hotels are plentiful, and many of them place visitors near the city’s many shrines and temples, as well as the Grand Palace and other cultural attractions. Phuket, one of the country’s most popular resort areas, tends to be much busier (and more expensive) during the high season - which runs from November to March - than it is at other times of the year. For visitors seeking more traditional Thai culture that is closer to nature, Chiang Mai - located in the mountains of Northern Thailand - is an excellent option.

Thailand Hotels

Resort style hotels are common in Thailand, especially near the beaches, and this is also true in cities such as Bangkok and Chiang Mai, which can make life easier for tourists. However, as well as the international hotel chains and the holiday or wellness resorts, there are also smaller boutique hotels, bed and breakfasts, and other more budget-friendly accommodation options located throughout the country.
